Renowned local wordsmith Geof d’Poet will headline the stage with his upcoming show, Kampala Sibiziimbe Bannakibuga scheduled for Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Coffee At Last in Makindye starting 7pm.
‘Kampala Sibiziimbe’ is an infamous quip line often used by city dwellers to highlight the uncanny experiences around town set apart from the high-rising towers and awe inspiring architecture that meets the first glance.
With BannaKibuga (translated as “The People of the City”), Geof steps into the role of a true Munnakibuga to lead an artistic conversation about urban life.
The performance will explore themes like
- The daily boda-boda rush and energetic street conversations.
- The chaotic city elements residents complain about alongside the overlooked beauty.
- The scenic views of the hills at sunset contrasted with quiet, intimate moments in between.
While formal entry is free, attendees are invited to give an artist support contribution of 10,000 ugx. As an added bonus, every contribution automatically enters the guest into a raffle draw for a chance to win exclusive merchandise from the Bannakibuga collection.
Before It All Happened:
While BannaKibuga is his first major headline show, Geof d’Poet has consistently been a sought-after feature act including standout appearances on curation platforms like Ubumuntu Arts Festival Kigali, Wimbi La Saana Arts festival Mombasa, Sofar Kampala, and the Vumbula Uganda festivals.
Known for a sharp penchant for raw freestyling, Geof has regularly demonstrated an innate ability to craft verses on the spot.
He notably represented Uganda at the East Africa Poetic Hour Battle (EAPHB) in Kisumu. Locally, he has hosted weekly performance spaces, such as leading the Monday Jam Session at the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) – National Theatre, alongside running his monthly poetry and music showcase, SPOKEN.
